i would just like to say this is an amazing DVR for the price. just know that it does not come with a hard drive and to install one you need to remove the cover and inside there is all the connections for a hard drive (sata cable and power supply)and it comes with everything including the screws to mount it inside and set up is easy.

My Night Owl Appollo arrived today, and the interface is not bad.
Immediately I noticed a couple of issues that are troubling.
1)Setting the Motion - its just a screen with a bunch of squares, theres no reference to the camera. So you have no idea what areas are going to be covered.
2) The playback - This device records sections of time during the day to files. So you can choose 15,30,45,60 minute blocks. Now when you want to playback through the software it actually downloads the file. There is no jumping ahead until the file is downloaded. You might not say thats a big deal but when the files are 600mb and your copying them to your hard drive across the network to scan a block of 1 hr. Its just not easy to scroll through the entire day.
3) Clean up after your self - Like i mentioned in 2 you have to download the files to view them. This leaves a mess on my hard drive. I have files building up on my drive that I don't want.
In addition to that, the software doesn't allow you to remove the videos that are stored.
4) web interface - wouldn't know b/c it doesn't work with ie9 / firefox or chrome.
ie9 is blocking the activeX from installing a script because its not trusted. Maybe there is a fix at this point i don't know.

1) Overall good quality recordings ( hope I never have to watch them cause that could take forever )
